Music and Drama
Shri.Varadachari had a lot of interest and proficiency in Carnatic Music, as well as Theatre activities. He was actively associated with the Music Festivals and Telugu dramas organized by Sri Rama Vilas Sabha, Chittoor which he served as member, Secretary and Vice President for over 40 years. It is mentioned in the Proceedings of the Executive Committee meeting held on 5.1.1963 that he rendered unique and meritorious service for the Sri Rama Vilas Sabha activities. His contributions as an actor on the stage and outside the stage as well have been appreciated.
He was a good actor and played the role of Vasishta, Hiranyakasipu, Hanumantha, Keechaka, Taanisha etc.,. He also encouraged his children to act with him and Shri.K.S.Gandhi used to act as Lakshmana and Shri.K.V.K. Gandhi as Sita. The sabha conducted Carnatic Music Competitions in memory of Late K Varadacharyulu on 9.8.81.

He had an excellent sonorous voice and was very good in Carnatic music especially in singing and teaching of St. Tyagaraja and St. Annamacharya kritis. His favourite morning song was Malayamarutham raga “Manasaa Etulortune”.

మనసా ఎటులోర్తునే నా - మనవి చేకొనవే ఓ
దినకరకుల భూషణుని
దీనుఁడవై భజనఁ జేసిదినముఁ
గడుపుమనిన నీవు - వినవదేల గుణవిహీన
కలిలో రాజస తామస గుణములు - గలవారి చెలిమి
కలిసిమెలిసి తిఱుగుచు మఱి - కాలము గడపక నే
సులభముగాఁ గడతేరను - సూచనలను దెలియఁజేయు
ఇలను త్యాగరాజు మాట - వినవదేల గుణవిహీన

His son Kasturi recollects that his father taught Annamacharya Kritis such ‘galine poye kalakaalamu’, ‘indariki abhayamu icchucheyi’ ‘inniyu kalugute ye janmamunaina’ to his sisters Sridevi and Vydehi. Tulasidas and Meera Bhajans that is “deenana dukkha harana deva” , “too dayaalu deena ham”, and “mere to giridhara gopal” of sant Meera Bai were amongst the other songs that he taught. His daughters learnt the songs so well and sang for him whenever asked.
He was also fond of javalis and padams of kshetraiah. His favourite was one in Kalyani Raga – “Tattara padanele thaalu thaalu na swami”. He used to sing Sri Venkatesa Suprabhatam in the early morning in the jail to awaken the inmates.
He was visited at his house by great singers like :
